Avoiding Crisis

(the not so) itsy bitsy spider

with 4 comments

first there was the roach and then the toad and now we have the SPIDER.

spider 1

spider 2

This was one big and nasty looking spider.  It provided us with enough excitement for one day.  I snapped pictures as A stood by with a broom handle ready to attack if necessary. Upon first sight, Abbey had ran directly for her room, jumped on her bed, grabbed her special blanket and curled up in the corner waiting for it to be all over. Owen, on the other hand, got down on all fours and got as close as he could (or as I would let him) and started singing the itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout….

got any ideas as to what kind of spider this is and whether or not it’s dangerous?

  1. That is ugly and awful! I would have been keeping Abbey company on her bed 🙂

  2. not sure but it is either a wolf spider (Lycosa sp), Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria sp) or a garden tarantula. Can’t find an exact duplicat online.
